make it look officialish SEND IT REGISTERED MAIL, RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED that means they have to sign for it and you have legal proof of delivery. They will send you a card saying it was signed for. Save that and a copy of the letter. Very lawyer like. It will scare them and your sink will be fixed asap. I do it all the time.

I am the tenant in apartment ___. I have a maintenance problem in that the (kitchen, bathroom) sink drain is clogged and will not drain.

I have made the following efforts to unclog the sink: (list attempts to unclog) and contacted the apartment management about said maintenance problem on these occasions (list dates and who you talked to).

The sink poses a health issue because the stagnant water is a breeding ground for bacteria and insects. It diminishes my enjoyment of the premises because of the unpleasant odor.

In accordance with our lease, management is responsible for this kind of maintenance: (quote what lease says).

Also quote anything in the lease forbidding you from doing the repair.

Please have the sink unclogged as soon as possible per our lease.

Usually when you complain to a manager that manager puts the note in the file (that you have complained, about who and for what, and too many complaints will get you booted or they won't renew your lease). Since people don't stay long in apartments, maybe a year or two usually, if you can put up with the noise till they or you move that would be the best scenario. I used to live in apartments wherein noise (according to the lease) had to stop at 11PM. Where I live now the lease states that only 5 hours during the night must be quiet time. Since maintenance begins cutting the grass at 8AM in the winter and 7:30 or so in the summer...let's see now so 2:30Am must be the cut-off for noise. Generally a letter is because the manager did not respond to your first requests. Send the letter certified mail. This is generally enough to shake up even the most dense property manager into realizing it's about to get worse if he doesn't make it better.

If this is the case it does not need to be formal or certified or mailed . All you need to do is write down what your service request is and sign it, make a copy, and give it to the manager. A hotel is one of the places you need to make bookings for. Even with proper research for the best hotels, people find themselves in hotels that do not meet their requirements, or some that do not measure to their expectations.

A complaint letter for hotel is written by clients who are not satisfied with the services that they received in a given hotel. It could be some rude behavior that was displayed by the hotel staff or some facilities that were not in proper working condition.

However, three hours later, nothing had been done and when we went back to her for explanation, she rudely said that she had forgotten about it. We deeply feel that this was not right and the management owes us an apology.
